Richard Wehrs

St. Cloud, Minnesota

"Almost all of my work is about sacredization of space and/or objects, the process of “setting apart” or “making holy” by various means. Elevating even the most ordinary object on some kind of pedestal, or placing that thing within an extraordinary setting or context, immediately imbues a greater significance upon that object – deserved, or not. Several of these pieces elevate, both literally and figuratively, the intentionally mundane and even the unattractive, insisting that we offer some response of reverence or respect."
