Chris McCarthy McCarthy was first introduced to glass blowing during his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. After taking one basic class in 1987, he did not return to glass blowing until 1997, when the City Museum opened its doors. At the City Museum, Chris volunteered on the weekends and would do demonstrations for the crowds. In 2003, he decided to leave the museum and take his passion for glass to the next level and built the studio where he currently works, Park Avenue Glass Studio, in the city of St. Louis..
